Friday Fun Day
I saw this a few weeks ago in the midst of all the Olympic figure skating fun... yes, this is the same guy who gave himself a platinum medal after winning "just" silver to our own Evan Lysacek's gold.

Fifth Annual 333 Under The Tree!
My friend Jesse of my old band Room For A Ghost is hosting the Fifth Annual 333 Under The Tree tomorrow (on 3/3)!
This event will be at one of my favorite venues, Kimo's (1351 Polk Street) in SF, and will feature amazing music by some close friends and talented strangers: 333, Room For A Ghost, Entropy Density, Cuban Cigar Crisis, Old And Gray, Burnt Thumbs, Megan Romero, and Tell The Truth.
And, if that doesn't convince you, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Bipolar Disorder Research, so come support a good cause! The show is $10 per person and is totally worth it.. especially because my good friend Megan is performing for the very first time and she has the voice of an angel.

Any questions? Need a ride? I have an extra helmet. (even though you'll have to be my mirrors for me, the poor scoot isn't in top shape at the moment.) I'm so excited to be back at Kimos! (a little nervous though, last time i was there i was on stage with the guys... that will be a post for a different day)

Congrats to our Olympians.. and Go USA
Okay, I know this guy isn't rooting for USA, but for just a moment I wish I was on his side... who could resist?Congrats to Canada for hosting an exciting Winter Olympics (and for winning Curling!! I was quite impressed with Saturday's events! Oh, and the hockey game too...)
Even more so though, the USA looked great and I felt my own love of America rise these past few weeks...

Hello? Anyone there?
It's time to start writing again.
I've been through so much in the past year trying to be a rockstar, starting new job adventures, falling in love, reading good books, and discovering new passions.. so as these things have changed themselves and I've emerged a new person in 2010, I realized it's time to start writing again.
I can't guarantee it will be the same thing, and I'll try to pull a little more of my love for food and books and parks and cab drivers into the whole deal, but bright lights and bandaids has risen from its slumber!

words of wisdom from a whistler..
from the blog LA BLOGOTHEQUE by Garrincha
“We may be harmless sociopaths but we sing arm in arm as a chorus marching toward a brighter future. The end may be coming but it's going to be a party and there will be snacks”. Andrew Bird

Hey Mama Wolf...
I woke up with "Hey Mama Wolf" in my head and it won't go away... i'm not too worried about it...
If anyone can pull off very short flowered shorts, a red tunic, and red pointy maryjane-ish shoes, it's Devendra Banhart. Although his antics and outfit made him resemble a giddy grandpa at times, he was once again beautiful.

Notable, however, was the same hopeful homeless hippie band playing outside of the venue... it made my hopes of having dreadlocks one day soar... and i also want to learn the musical saw. i'm sure devendra would much rather cater to the young people (probably averaging my age) dressed in scraps and playing folk music (very well) outside of Yoshi's last night and The Independent on Tuesday than the 100 girls who rushed onto the stage during Carmensita...
okay, okay, so i did run from the third level down to the stage to be one of those girls...but i didn't grab devendra's tunic and i was fine being 5 feet away from him.
anyway, after the show, my favorite hobos drew quite a crowd, and we all danced for a few minutes before moving on to various places, like a purple light lit-up plaza and the boom boom room... does anyone have a musical saw?
